Tech Artist (Procedural)

Job Description

NetEase games is looking for experienced technical artist focusing on procedural generation of large and complex environment, in order to meet the ever growing project scales. Candidates will participate in multiple projects across various platforms. Procedural generation with Houdini, etc and integrating of pipeline into production is the Key to the job.

Job Responsibilities

* Develop procedural generation tools for various environment components, including terrain, vegetation, buildings and props.

* Integrate procedural tools to art production pipeline and optimize the efficiency.

* Manage resources and standards for art asset production related to procedural generation.

* Provide supporting and training for artists and junior TA/TD, to help them adapt to new tools and workflows.

* Assist artificial intelligence R&D teams on topics related to environment generation.

Qualifications

* 3+ years working as TA/TD in video game industry. Preferred if having shipped AAA titles on major platforms.

* Proficiency in developing procedural modeling/generation tools with Houdini or other tools.

* Programming with scripting language to develop production pipeline tools, is required. Preferred language is Python.

* Programming in game-engine to allow data transfer between generated content and game asset, is required.

* Knowledge of realtime 3D render principle, Shader authoring, material and lighting is preferred.

* Understanding of performance constraints in game production and able to optimize tools and resource standards to meet requirement of different platform.

* Interest and knowledge of climate, geology, biology, architecture, landscape, city planning, etc.

* Strong verbal and written communication skills with large teams.

* Fluent in English. Chinese (Mandarin) speaker is a plus.

* Willing to travel to China several times per year to communicate with local teams.
