TECHNICAL ARTIST
NetEase Games is looking for skilled and experienced effect technical artist. The role would focus on developing workflows for effects that is technically atypical or complicated. And collaborate with other team members to develop mechanics that better connects visual effect and gameplay. Candidates will participate in various projects for current and next generation platforms, both desktop and mobile.
* Integrate new technology and tricks into existing workflow to allow more complex and visually stunning effects.
* Work with programmers, artists and designers to develop effect pipeline that resonate better with gameplay mechanics.
* Design principles and regulations of managing shader/code/art resources across multiple projects.
* Provide supporting and training for artist and junior TA/TD, to help them adapt to new tools and workflows.
* 3+ years working as effect artist/TD in video game industry. Preferred if having shipped AAA titles on major platforms.
* Proficiency in authoring effects with in-game tools, such as Unity, Unreal, etc.
* Familiar with procedural/simulation techniques in Maya/Houdini/Real Flow etc, and have experience integrating them into game effect production.
* Programming and tool development with script language in content creation tools is required, such as Python, HScript, VEX and MEL.
* Shader writing with HLSL, GLSL, Cg, etc, is required.
* Ability to program in game engine and create effect mechanics, is a plus.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills with large teams.
* Fluent in English. Chinese (Mandarin) speaker is a plus.
* Willing to travel to China several times per year to communicate with local teams.
